Virtual Photography Workshop

Picture
With youth out of school due to COVID-19, now it the perfect time for youth to learn new skills or master their existing photography skills via virtual workshops.

Youth that participate in the workshop series will benefit in the following ways (not all inclusive):
  • Belonging… Youth will virtually interact with other youth and the instructor to learn new skills.
  • Independence… Youth will work on their own to create photographs and be able to tell their stories through the use of media.
  • Generosity… Youth will use their skills to bring awareness to a community cause of their choice.
  • Mastery… Youth will develop and progress their skills with guidance and feedback from a professional photographer/educator.  They will be able to use their skills to create a photography fair project if desired.
By the end of this workshop series:
  • Youth will understand how they can use photography in their lives – now and in the future
  • Youth will be able to create more dynamic and interesting photos
  • Youth will understand how to tell a story using media
  • Youth will be able to create a fair project if desired

HOW?

Our virtual photography workshop series will utilize a variety of tools and instructional methods to host interactive photography lessons for youth. We will offer the lessons via a live presentation using Zoom. Youth will be able to interact with the instructor on video or via chat during the presentation.

After the presentation, youth will login to Google Classroom to view and submit their assignments. The instructor will provide feedback in Google Classroom and be available via Zoom if the youth have additional questions or need further assistance.

Each workshop will built upon the skills the youth learned in the previous workshop. However, if you are unable to make the live workshop, you can view them later and still participate in the assignments, feedback and assistance.

Tools and Equipment

Youth will need access to the following:

  • Digital camera or phone
  • Google Classroom for assignments (and gmail account)
  • Zoom for virtual training and one-on-one assistance (free)

Registration Info

Due to COVID, we had to cancel all in-person photography trainings.  We hope to post virtual trainings soon.
