Introduction to Fishing and DIY Fishing Poles (coming soon)

Now’s your chance to learn the basics of fishing!  In this workshop, youth will learn how to make their own fishing pole (all supplies included), tie their hook on the line, attach a bobber and a worm or lure and learn how to cast their line for some bank fishing.  Typical species caught at Monster Lake include channel catfish, largemouth bass and smallmouth bass.

Tips
  • The stick should not be dry or it could easily break.  You should be able to bend it a little to get a 4-5 pound fish.
  • You can use a sharp rock to cut off extra line.
  • Tie a knot at the base where you hold the stick, wind the string up the pole to the end and tie another knot.
