Good morning! The chicks are now two days old and they're not only very hungry but sleepy! They'll be running around like crazy, stop and fall asleep within seconds. It's so fun to watch. We have two water towers and one large trough feeder. The color is starting to come in more and we think we can start to tell the difference between the breeds (maybe???). Some are more brown but that's about it.
Unfortunately, we did lose the runt overnight... After taking a close look at it, it appears as though the abdomen didn't fully close. :( Sad but a part of life. I had the conversation with my kids before we even brought the eggs in that not all will make it. Tomorrow, if the last egg in the incubator hasn't pipped (broken the shell), we'll remove it and examine the contents to see what went wrong.
However, we will post a Daily Dose of Cuteness for your viewing pleasure. Stay tuned!
